    Fountek ribbon repair....

Recently there were discussions in a thread about repairing/replacing the ribbon elements in Fountek ribbons so I decided to email Madisound and find out what it cost to replace the elements. I recieved a prompt reply from Josh stating that the only charge for repair was the price of the element and installation was free. He also said each ribbon was frequency tested to insure the ribbon was back to factory specs.

    The ribbon element prices are:

    NeoCD2 element is $28.00
    NeoCD3 element is $19.00

That looks like a pretty darn good deal and excellent service from Madisound. Of course, you had to purchase the Fountek ribbon from them to get free installation which only makes sense.

So, if anyone has purchased Fountek ribbons from Madisound and needs them repaired, you now have a plan. :T

Fountek ribbons are tough. I've had the more fragile JP2's in my line arrays for over 3 years and they still sound like new. The NeoCD3.0's used in the Statements series of designs are the very durable variety that I doubt would ever get damaged without an "opps!" happening, but if it does, now you know.

unfortunately oops has happened to me once again... a lot of blame goes to disfunctional chinese tube preamp that i own... time to go ss. but it's still good to know that the damage is cheap to repair. these ribbons tweeters are proving to be a smart purchase yet again.

Do you have a cap inline with the tweeter to help protect it?
