    A walk back through time

Visit "The Tennessee Theatre', a truly amazing old movie theater, and a historic landmark of Knoxville, TN.

    Enjoy,

Absolutely beautiful, Lex. Reminds me of a similar movie palace that once existed in Halifax called The Capitol Theater. It's history went back to the days of stage and early silent films.
If there were still theaters like that around here, I would be going to movies on a regular basis.

Looks like a great place for concerts and revival films. Hope I can see it in person some day.

Oh man, talk about memory lane. That reminds me of the old Arcadia theater on the East side of the downtown square in Tyler, Texas. I haven't been there in 25 years, so I don't even know if the building is still standing, but there are a lot of good cinematic memories there. Thanks Lex.

Glad you all enjoyed it. The Theater is not really used for standard attractions now. I am sad to say I missed the anniversary showing of Star Wars there.

Mostly, it's used for specialty concerts and such now, Knoxville Symphony Orchestra, that sort of thing. Maybe some specialty films.

She is a beautiful old theater. We actually have one older, but not nearly as ornate. Can you imagine, costing a million dollars in the early 1900s?

Three recent films that achievied 5 star status to this viewer
            by Danbry39
I know I have quirky tastes, but here are short reviews of three films, each of which I bought blind, that I absolutely love. All three are foreign films, so, if you're into that kind of thing, you might give them a try...at least if you can find them for rental. Really don't know if anyone else would...

            Favourite classic films?
            by Ovation
I've been on a bit of a classic film run lately (mostly early Hitchcock, but a few others) and while I have a reasonable number of such films on my shelf, I'm curious to know if there are any I should at least rent, if not add to my collection.

Basically, what are your favourite classic...

            Restoration Of Films
            by George Bellefontaine
I was watching The Big Country last night. I feel it qualifies as a classic western and was disappointed at the transfer. Obviously the original print is not in very good shape. The image was dark and the technicolor very drab. This film cries for a restoration, but I understand this is a very expensive...

            Walk Hard...well...
            by George Bellefontaine
...this kind of comedy may not be for everyone. But for people like me who lived the music and its stars of the 50s, 60s and 70s, it is a must see. Even though it is a comedic send up of biopics like Walk The Line, Ray, etc., it really nails the look and feel of the times it covers. But it is an outright...
