October 8th Update: Didn't get much done this last week and weekend- darn it. Did get the majority of cabinetry in the master closet up and putty'd (RPTV and equipment cabinets). The Lutron Spacer switch came in, but didn't have the remote. Oh well, it's progress, if only a little bit.

As long as it's progress, Tex. You must be really starting to get itchy for some HT viewing.

David, sometimes it dosen't always seem like it, but every little bit helps. A little progress is still a step toward your goal

Thanks Pat 'n Erik 'n George. Sometimes I lose sight of that in all the things that go on around here. I was hoping to have everything done by the 17th when family comes visiting, but I'm not going to make it. . . . Oh well, it's still a fun project! :T

LOL...I know what you mean. I thought I'd have my HT room done by the mid-September! Cha-right. Working on it one or two days a week just didn't allow for that laughable deadline!

But all is well and I hope to have her wrapped up by Turkey Day in November!

October 23rd update: Not much progress lately. Been waaayyyyyy too busy at work - which is where I am right now. Did get the second wall sconce in, returned the Lutron Spacer switch they'd sent me in error and re-ordered the correct one which HAS the I/R remote.

Having a lot of trouble finding the wall treatments I want. I've been to every HT dealer I know of in the Houston area except one, and I'm heading there (Audio Concepts) Saturday after the Houston HT meet. I've held off getting the paint until I have the treatments in hand and can match their color properly.

                    David -

Parth & his crew at Audio Concepts are expecting that a few of us from the meet will show up at the store Saturday afternoon. They are running one of their infrequent "12 months same as cash" sales Saturday (usually it is, at most, "6 months same as cash") which is one reason we didn't make it an official stop for the whole group, (they'll be kind of busy), but those of us who are there for something specific (like your wall treatments) should have no trouble getting helped. :>) BTW -- he was quite flattered by your comment about him vis a vis the Tech Expo.

October 29th update: A little progress this weekend. Managed to get more screw indentions filled and sanded and more shelving up in the master closet. These days, any progress is a good thing.

November 20th Update: What with the re-org at work, travelling and conferences for the last month, I haven't made any significant progress lately. BUT, I'm off all next week for the Thanksgiving holidays so lot's of things should get done. Yeah!

December 3rd update: Sheesh. We had family come in un-announced for the holidays so no substantive work got done on the room. I couldn't stand it anymore, so I temporarily reassembled the system so that we could at least enjoy some movies. WOW! Relocating the RPTV and the equipment back into the wall makes a huge difference in the feel of the room. Much more comfortable and theater-like. Hehe, now if I can just finish the doggone thing. . . .

I have been inspired. I recently married my girlfriend of 5 years and bought a house. The home was a model, so the garage is insolated, as well as heat and cooled.

As soon as we get done working on the bathrooms, We will begin converting our garage into a theater room. It will have one...

                              Hi Thomas,

I think this is going to be my next project. I went through your page, and looked at all the pictures in the links. I think I should be able to build these without killing myself Questions:

                              * In your room, do you have these spaced off the walls like some people...

                              Hi all,

I’d like to thank all on this board :T for all of the great insight on gear. It’s been great and I’ve had a lot of fun with the setup. After using some nice gear for a while, the next step is to make sure the room acoustics are maximized prior to thinking about the next steps...

I've recessed my RPTV into the wall so that the screen is flush with the wall. I'm toying with the idea of putting power-openable curtains in front of it and was wondering if anyone had experience with them.

I have recently moved into a house where the home theater/stereo is in half of a 10X24 room, making the "listening room" proper 10X wide by 12X long with the back open all of the way to the back wall at 24'. The only additional thing to consider is that the room is partially divided at 12'...
