    soundstage

I'm new at this hometheater setup thing but I'm having problems making the soundstage sound right. I'm using the Marantz AV8003 is my sound processor and setting up a 5.1 system for my hometheater. However, the sound from the rear speakers sound just like the front speakers; ie when the plane in the movie flying away, I don't get the feeling it flying from front speakers to the back speakers. Please tell me how to fix the problem.
    Thanks a million.

Don't know a lot but how about this....

Do you have a test disc, or many movie discs have a surround test included. Test basically circulates a tone around you speaker set, showing which speaker a tone is being sent to on the screen. Have you every done this, did the tone match to the speaker suggested on the screen? You should get only the tone specific to the speaker being identified.

Sounds like you may have a phase issue, if the channels are not "directionalized" enough. You're saying that you can't tell which speaker the sounds are coming from?

Other than that, it's GOOD if all the speakers produce the same sound when fed the same signal. You don't want to have the sound change as it moves from one speaker to another.

Well, we're safe for now. Thank goodness we're in a bowling alley.

Are you - indeed - sure you have told the Marantz that it has rear speakers?

if you didn't, it will matrix the rear surround effects to the fronts

          Soundstage

Soundstage refers to the perceived spatial placement and localization of sound sources in a recording. It describes the three-dimensional presentation of audio, making it seem as if the sound is originating from specific locations within the listening environment, rather than coming directly from the loudspeakers. When a recording and playback system is capable of creating a convincing soundstage, listeners can experience a more immersive and realistic audio experience. The...

Questions and observations re: Mentor II omni speaker. The "Duevel" project.
          by Jazzman2
          Hello All,
This is my first post and I have come about 12 years late to this topic.

A couple of weeks ago I auditioned the Duevel Bella Luna Diamante omnidirectional speaker and was very impressed.

First of all the Duevel sound is effortless. I listened for a solid...

Building new hometheater system starting with B&W 703
          by lazime
          Hi,

I've been looking to get a pair of B&W703 for music. Eventually, I want to build a HT 5.1 system with my old Marantz SR 18 receiver. For music, the 703 is great. However, when I audition for HT 5.1 setup (703 Front, DS7 Surr, HTM7 Center, 700SW) at a dealer, I dont like it...

          Loss of center channel (RSX-1055)
          by rotel&energy
Recently, I've had some problems with the center channel of my
RSX-1055 (completely up-to-date firmware). When I run a test tone through each speaker in my system (5.1), all of the speakers sound normal except the center channel. I have to raise the volume on the 1055 to 70+ in order to hear...

CD recommendations get 804S soundstage right?
          by tboooe
Hi all. I have fiddling with my 804S speaker position for the last week trying to achieve the wide and deep soundstage that people have described. Unfortunately, I cant seem to reproduce what other people have desribed. My soundstage does not extend back or wider than my physical speaker position....
