Beginning my HT planning (wall Panels)

I'm surprized that I could not find more information of DIY acoustical panels.
I noticed that many Ht rooms have upholstered walls. I looked at the price of these wall systems and designs, and I've got to say they seem to high for me.

Can't a person simply buy 5/8" x 4' x 8' osb board and .5" 48" x 60" poly batting. Cover this with a dark Micro fiber material. All it would take is some glueing and stapling, then hang up the wall panel. Wouldn't these wall panels be good in a HT room?
The cost per 4" x 8" would be less than $15. If poly batting wasn't good enough you could use foam, this would increase the price per sheet to $18.

    Just an idea,

Does any one have ideas about wall covering for their HT?

All the theaters Ive been in had these butter/chocolate stain covered red drapes hung on the walls. The sticky floor and a stale smelling seat added to the ambiance.

Those are nicer setups than what I have planned chubby. :W

I've done a bounch of searching, I mostly get bass traps and some smaller acoustical panel info.

I looking for full wall treatment.
I was hoping to hear that what I have stated will work for easy of setup and and acoustical needs and looks.

However,, of course I will keep search for methods to do the wall treatment/acoustical needs.

        Thanks.

Do be careful. One member here over-damped his theater room with full-wall treatments.

Here are a few threads to get you started:

David- I'm not remembering... who was that? Seeing as how virtually all public rooms are TOO live, it's fairly difficult to make them TOO dead.

Well, we're safe for now. Thank goodness we're in a bowling alley.

Sorry 'bout the dead links. They occasionally go away as people reconfig their sites, but the still live ones are good resources.

My uncle is beginning to consider building a home theatre room. He wants speakers to be either mounted right on the wall or into alcoves we would build when framing / drywalling.
