Wireless Routers

Ok if you had to pick a wireless router which would you pick and why? I'm leaning towards one of these two at the moment

NETGEAR MR814 Wireless 4-Port Router

DLINK AIRPLUS ENHANCED 2.4GHZ WIRELESS ROUTER

I can get either for the same price ($130cdn) so price isn't a factor. I could also get a SMC barricade cheap as well but for some reason the SMC's aren't maintaining a solid connection to our intranet via the VPN so they're aren't on my radar list. I'm quite happy with my wired SMC though that the wireless will replace.

Can't say I've had experience with either...but I'd say NetGear carries a better rep if that's worth anything.

I have the Lynksys BEFW11S4 Wireless Router and don't like it very much due to the fact that my laptop can not pick up a good reception from the next room. You pretty much need to be in the same room as the Router to be able to get a good link.

I would be looking elsewhere if I was to buy again.
The models you mentioned may be the best choice.

I bought the Netgear for a friend for Xmas, and installed it in her two story home- the hub at the main PC on the first floor, one corner of the house, the wireless receiver on her bedroom PC, on the opposite side of the house on the second floor. No problems, and easy to setup; signal strength meter is max'd out, so range isn't an issue. I'm no home networking expert, but when I get around to getting one for myself, I'll probably get one of these, too.

Well I was in Future Shop today and they had a wireless Netgear (MR814) router on their open box table that looked like it had all the parts so I cut them a deal on it and took her home. I had it installed and running in under 5 minutes (totat) and its great. Its loaded with some very cool featuers such as content blocking per IP address. I can even set scheduals when people can log on or when the filters are on. It also has a detachable anntena so I can upgrade that to a higher gain later if I need be.

PS I noticed Radio Shack was selling the Netgear PCMCIA cards for $59 cdn as well which was very cheap...I paid a lot more for mine :x
