    Blue screen symptom turned serious

Well, it finally happened, the occasional blue screen bit me right square in the ass over the weekend. I lost a year's worth of email from my in box, just gone! No warnings from Eudora, no mailbox is corrupted messages, just email is gone!

I couldn't believe it. My last point in time backup was in March. So, I lost 3 months worth of email, gone.

Were it not for the fact it makes me want to cry at the thought of tearing this dual CPU PC down yet again, I would return it to Asus for something else, maybe another 333, I dunno.

I can go along just fine for 2 days, then finally, blue screen. He also just freezes up once in a while.

    Frustrated,

Wow LEx, your stories with that dual headed monster have me running to Mama Intel if I ever want to go dual...... I think this is why big corporations stay with Intel for servers, they have been proven over the long haul where as AMD is relativley new in the server MP arena.... Not that you really need to hear this right now.

Sorry to hear buddy, that really sucks and I know how you feel. I have lost so many e-mails because of broken stripes and that darn Microsoft Outlook. I wish it and Explore would just keep all the files in one local location that is easy to back up like Nescape. :M

Anyone know how to back up email in Outlook/ Outlook Express?

      From Outlook help:

To back up the folder, find the folder file, and then copy it to a backup folder, floppy disk, or network drive. Outlook Express e-mail folders have a .dbx extension (for example, "Sent Items.dbx").

Thanks Bing, it has been a frustrating experience for sure. I think I am about ready to bail on this system as soon as can figure out what to do.

Yeah, back up completely out of it, and use an alternate client, lol. Not a fan of Outlook

          Router Recommendations?
          by Jeff Kowerchuk
In a couple of months, I will be adding a secondary PC and I intend to use a router to share my high-speed cable connection.

I understand, however, that the router acts as a physical firewall and thus I would not need to use my software firewall (Norton Internet Security).

          Cloudmark Email Spam Filter
          by Bing Fung
At work I get so many spam mails it's ridiculous. I get on average 100 a day. Needless to say every morning is spent deleting the spam mail from the legitimate mail. A Monday morning is the worse for the spam does not let up over the weekend.

I have resolved to the fact that soon my...

CP 700 power supply dead? (blinking blue light)
          by shep
I started up my stereo and the pre-amp (CP 700) didn't power up. Looked at the external power supply and it had a blinking blue light on front. Checked all connections and they looked good. Tried shutting down and restarting. Same result. Seems like it is dead (fuse is still good). Any ideas? My local...

          Rotel RA-1520 Blue Leds?
          by Herky
Hello, I was just wondering if anyone else's blue led on the volume knob of the RA-1520 is a different shade (lighter blue) than the blue led around the power button and input selector (darker blue). Thanks.
