Different volumes from different sources via headphone amp

    Hi Guys/Gals....

I recently bought a JDS O2 headphone amp and have for the longest time been listening to my CD player with it. Recently, I connected the CD player to the amp and the headphone amp to the tape out's of the amp. No problems there.

However, I just connected my DVD player via it's analog outputs to the amp and I'm getting huge volumes (distortion) via both the headphone amp and the main speakers (Although via the 5.1 speaker setup using my speakers, I would use it's digital connection for 5.1 surround sound). I'm not sure why there is a huge difference in gain as opposed to the CD player.

When I use my speakers via my Rotel only, most of the volumes from various sources are close to the same. Any idea what could be happening?.

This may be not the same issue you are having but similar. I have a HTPC and a PS3 hooked up to my TV with HDMI and then optical audio out from tv to my headphone amp/dac out to my stereo amp.

With the PS3 I have to have the volume a lot lower compared to the HTPC. I wonder if it is because it isn't able to bypass internal audio processing via HDMI on the HTPC?

Hey chaps, I hope you can help.

I finally switched from digital coaxial to 7.1 analogue connections between my HTPC and Processor to take advantage of the new sound formats.

Unfortunately the upgrade has introduced a nasty buzzing sound through the speakers. It does not...

      Hi
I have recently noticed that when I listen to music late at night on a volume around 35-45 ( Rotel 1068) my 803s sound very accurate, detailed and pleasant. at higher volumes (65 and up) the nice spatial organization tends to smear and fade away. I know my room acoustics is far from perfect,however...

      Hi All,
I'm contemplating getting a headphone amp for my RSP-1098 to improve two channel listening (I've got Jamo THX speakers which are great for movies, but not so good for music). I am tossing up between the MF XCAN v3 and the Creek OBH21SE. I've currently got a pair of Senn HD570 headphones,...

Idea for headphone use with PS3 !!??
      by madmac
I send my PS3 audio signal to my Rotel using an optical cable. I quickly learned that these digital connections and the sound that the receiver decodes from them will not be transferred to the analog tape outs of the unit so I could hook my headphone amp to it. The PS3 of course does not have analog...
