    Need earphone adapter!!

Hey all, I'm going into an apartment soon and I believe my two, 250 watt subwoofers are NOT going to be very popular!!. I expect to do a lot of listening with my Grado headphones. My Rotel amp does not have a headphone jack sadly!!.

How do I set myself up to be able to use my headphones with it???

    madmac,

In general headphone jacks are going to be on your preamp... What do you use as a preamp?
    Main System:
    B&W 801D
    Emotiva USP-1 Pre-Amp
    Chord SPM-650 Stereo Amp
    Oppo BDP-105
    Squeezebox Touch

    Second System:
    B&W CM7
    Emotiva UMC-1
    Emotiva UPA-2
    Oppo BDP-83SE
    Grant Fidelity DAC-09

Your Rotel Receiver does not have a headphone out?

That is too bad.. Would have made things easy..

Is there not some form of powered 'headphone jack/ amp' that can be hooked up to the 'tape out's' of receivers and amps that do not support a headphone jack??.

There are a ton of headphone amps and DACs with headphone amp built in, but most will take an analog stereo input or a digital input (USB, Coax, Optical etc.)
            Main System:
            B&W 801D
            Emotiva USP-1 Pre-Amp

Here you go.. Based out of Calgary..

I have the DAC-09 which has now been replaced by the DAC-11..

Here is how the DAC-11 can be used in typical applications.

There is a big price range there, so I am sure you can find something that fits the bill.

                  Cheers

I see there''s a lot of these headphone amps out there!!. Some for as little as 30 bucks. I your humble opinions, how much of a difference in sound can I expect from one costing 30 bucks vs 200???. Bare in mind that I have Grado SR80 headphone worth about 150 bucks.

I am not sure.. I am not much of a headphone guy. I think it would be like anything in audio though.. At least at the entry level, spending more usually gives much better results.

I have read that the Grant Fidelity DAC-09 is quite a good headphone amp for the price. It is replaced by the DAC-11 now, but you might be able to find a DAC-09 used.

                          Cheers
