    SPDIF over HDMI issues.

Ok so I have a 9500GT that has an SPDIF header on it. I've been using it fine up until a few days ago. For some reason it doesn't want to work all the time now. The other day it stopped working and I was messing with it and was ready to update the driver and all the sudden it started working again. Other then that I really didn't do anything to it. Then today it starts again after I turned it on. I tried up dating the driver and what not and so far it's not working.

Hmm ok nevermind. I just changed an option in the bios it says SPDIF out. YOu can set it to SPDIF output or SPDIF over HDMI. I didn't think this would effect SPDIF through my video card but apparently it does. Not sure why it worked at all before if it needs this option though? I guess we'll see what happens.

I take it "SPDIF over HDMI" means you can output HDMI A&V AND still output audio over SPDIF. Yes? No? I could only imagine that if it's "SPDIF over HDMI", the signal sent from SPDIF (though a different interface) is still awaiting handshakes from the HDMI portion. So if your HDMI interfaces detects no end device, then the pc will not output any audio over SPDIF either (because it thinks there is no end device). It's the only thing that would make any sense to me.

Don't know what else. Interesting though.

        HDMI help with AV receiver
        by audioqueso
I'm looking to buy an AV receiver in March, but I'm kinda confused as to whether I would need HDMI.

I was debating Marantz vs Arcam, and even though I never heard an Arcam, I was sold by others to get the Arcam. However, Arcam AVR300/350 doesn't do audio over HDMI or upconvertion of...

Dual use of HDMI outputs on Oppo 95 to SSP 800
        by CabinetGuy
I just purchased the Oppo 95 AND upgraded from the SSP 600 to the 800. I am in the process of setting them up. I am having difficulty understanding the best approach of what I think are two options to connect them for the BEST HDMI audio/video delivery and thus I am having trouble getting the sound/picture...

RSP-1069 HDMI issue (not yet covered by other posts)
        by JRachwalski
Hello, as far as I can read I have not seen the following issues I am experiencing with HDMI:

        1. I have tried a 10' cable and a 5' cable and the projector does not recognize the signal. (no problem with component video)
-both cables display video from my HTPC (ATI Radeon 2400)...

        Component vs HDMI Sat connection

It seems like HDMI is the be all, cure all, but I don't want to run out and buy one for no reason.

My HD satellite receiver will broadcast in 720p, does it make sense to use HDMI over component video (which I already have) to connect to my pre/pro since, from my understanding the only...
