I was curious what software poeple are using to play DVDs on their machine. Trying to decide if I want to step away from open source OpenVLC player for something that does... more.
What software do you use for movie playback?

I have an HTPC sort of setup so I use Media Portal and CoreAVC decoder. Media portal is free you'd just have to install your favorite decoder. There are some free ones out there. I kind of like the Nvidia DVD decoder it works pretty nice.- Bottom

I periodically invest in Cyberlink's top version of Power DVD. I just bought the latest version for my laptop, which has full support for all lossless audio and BD.
Found that it gives maximum performance, you don't have to download extra codecs and worry about being able to play this particular format or that.

Yeah. My Meedio HTPC uses media player classic as the engine. I added k-lite codec and it has played everything that I've ever thrown at it. And pretty light on resources too.Originally posted by tudorvokmedia player classic homecinema.

Jon was kind enough to send me a 2.61 patch, would this patch also include all the other mods and patches that my copy may not have?

Imagine uncompressed surround sound……
For those that haven't seen it, my friend and HTgude member Matt Stacey pointed out the information in this LINK FROM DOLBY to me.
