I'm thinking about buying another XBOX(the one with HDMI output). My receiver doesn't have any HDMI inputs? How do I get DD sound with it(without modding the wire or anything)? Can I just run it through my Sony(I think it has a optical output on it) and then run that to my receiver?

You have to get a cable like this: http://www.xbox.com/en-US/hardware/x...ponenthdcable/
And use the optical output it provides.-Chuck- Bottom

All 360 models now are HDMI but only the elite comes with the HDMI cable and HDMI audio adapter which has the optical output and what not. The pro comes with the component video cable which has a little optical jack on the back of the connector. The arcade just comes with a composite video cable.- Bottom

I was actually only to get the box itself(it's going to be an arcade model...I have a broken pro lying around that I will just use the cables and HD from). I didn't want to have to go out and buy anything else for it(I have an extra HDMI cable I'm not using).

by maseline_98I have 2 360s(neither have HDMI)...My buddy brought his over and we tried hooking up the HDMI cable to my Sony...I noticed immediately that there was no place to plug in the optical cable to my receiver(as I don't have HDMI in). by audioquesoOn a PS3, audiowise, the advantage of using HDMI instead of optical output vs HDMI is that you can have DTS-HD and DolbyHD with blu-ray movies. You can not get those formats via the optical output. Is this only true with blu-ray movies, or does this apply to PS3 games as well?

by bambahtg9700Hi guys, I'm not getting any audio from my HDMI setup. I've got my HDMI dvd player hooked to my external HDTV tuner (accepts HDMI) for my display and then an optical output from the tuner to my receiver which is connected to the speakers. I get video but no audio even when I select the optical input...-

by LexI really have quite the mess after dropping DTV or Ruined ATTV.
If I watch Amazon Prime, or any other service, I have to just use the audio on the TV, because it is not compatible with my Lexicon.
I would like it to be as robust as possible, not some cheap little POS.
