    Logitech Harmony One

Anyone have a look at this? I've never been a fan of the other shape they use for the harmonys like the 880. I'm going to go look at this and possibly pick one up as I've been collecting quite the remote collection. It does look interesting and supposed to be much more comfortable.

    A Little Late For Me

A while back I got a Harmony 550 and no I don't like the ergonomics, but it was one of the only ones I could find (at a reasonable price point) that could take care of most functions on all my devices. I tried a few other, this one did the best.

That is one of the tough things about having a little less mainstream equipment, remotes that have the codes are a bit tough, Anthem and Arcam are not as common as Yamaha and Denon... take with a grain of salt I'm a bit new at all this.

I must say getting the darn thing dialed in is a pistol. Again, new at this but for goodness sake. I wish the device setup (how and what you choose for the buttons and all) would carry over to the activites. If a device is on and your activity toggles it "on" great now it's off :M I do have it just about figured out, but no I'm no fan of the shape.

I would have given almost anything for the Anthem remote to be the remote of choice. It's nice and big and fits my hand well, has that softer rubber texture. Nice big buttons that are backlite, but it was not to be.

After all the effort with the Harmony 550 I can proudly say that even with all my gear (TV - DVD - CD Player - PreAmp - Cable Box) there is only one remote out. If a person with all the "stuff' and only one remote and they are an enthusiast. Or nutty. :yesnod:

I'm looking to grab one as soon it comes out here in Australia. Looks to be logitech's best remote yet including the 1000 harmony. Looks to be similar in function to the harmony 785 but with better ergonomics and an added touch screen LCD which is very good.

Yeah I don't care much about the touchscreen but care more about the shape and feel. I'll definitely pick one up very soon but will probably take priority after the ps3/blu ray upgrade.

Well I finally grabbed one of these and its awesome! I love the feel and I love the touch screen a lot more then the buttons on the side of the LCD. It works wonderfully. The only thing I need to add is a button for MY DVR which takes me to my recordings as right now I have to go through the menu of my DVR to get to it.

It's quite better then the 880 I used to have for sure. I currently have no complaints.

Dougie what kind of stuff do you notice about the one vs the 880, other than the screen? Any other differences you noticed right away? I am so finicky about remotes, I keep buying them and always end up going back to the one that came w/my TV provider.

I have the 880, and the buttons feel like a cheap cell phone to me...

Yeah the buttons on the 880 are crap...they actually tend to die after a year or two as well. The Harmony One buttons feel tons better to me. And like I mentioned I like the touch screen 1000 times better then the buttons on the side of the screen as its so much easier to use. All the buttons on the One light up I can't remember how the 880 worked in that regards? Its just much more ergonomic and comfortable the charging station works better as well sometimes I had to play with the 880 to get it to charge where as the One I just drop it in and it charges.

Not to mention I had one of the very early 880's and it was quite laggy obviously the One is not.

I am also another person who went 880 to the One! :P I like it quite alot. However my first One stopped sending IR codes, so had to get it replaced :M

This one is fine though, it sits in the charging base alot better than the 880.

Touchscreen is also a plus. :T

Ok...their main page is completely horrible. I mean there is no direction as to where to go no navigation thats really usable. They need a new web designer because thats just a joke The graphics are nice though....hmm I haven't tried to do any of that stuff yet. Maybe I should setup buttons for the channels I use a lot.

Yes I have been enjoying it greatly and pretty much don't have to look at it much so its pretty easy to navigate.

The LCD screen on the rotel? If you go to devices and select the rotel manually there may be a button for it. If not there are ways to add custom buttons for it.

Yes, the button for this is the "Menu" button. The problem is that you have to push it for 3/4 seconds and that is not possible with the Harmony.
