"This" laptop? In general, if any computer gets loaded up with applications that take up memory, yes, adding RAM will speed up operations.

In general, more RAM will increase performance, depending on what applications and OS you use. Windows XP works well with 512 MB or more, and some applications such as CAD, graphics, games or video editing can benefit from more RAM, such as 1 GB.
What model laptop is it and how much RAM does it have now?Comment

Since her job owns te Dell laptop. I've decided to get her a new notebook. What's ot there for word processing & internet usage only? Have you heard of Acer or Everex? Trying to keep the bill around $600.June
