I was in Best Buy Jan 1 and they had about 40 PS3's on the floor. I was there for about 40 minutes and only saw one sell. Maybe the initial rush is over and supply is finally meeting demand. Just wish I can find a Wii now.

Both Wii and PS3 still lack the game to get people involved now. Well Wii has a few games at least but not PS3. Square Enix announced FFVII remake on PS3 but releasing date is still TBA and expecting after FFXIII(which is released Dec 31st for Japanese version and 2009 or later for English).

BTW Pez if you are looking for a Wii, try to see if you have any friends work in Target. I heard that every Target has a couple in the stockroom reserved for employees

ebay sales are probably below MSRP because muny grubbing scalpers bought to heavy, to many of them, and the sales were softer than they would like. The cost of the console, with a premium added and the fact SO MANY tried to get in on the action meant there were just to many at premium prices before Christmas. Yeah, a lot of kids had the wants, but mom and dad didn't have 700-800 bucks to drop on it, then there's games, etc... XBox 360 looked more attractive probably at a bit lower pricing up front, and without scalpers fees.

local BB said they had one returned (probably a scalper overbuy), and it went out the door before it even hit the shelf. They had 1 20 and 1 60 come in, the 20 sold, and the 60 was left last night. Maybe gone now.

The younger generation who can afford PS3 would hear enough bad news for PS3 recently. And Microsoft came out with another 10 great news. They do make a difference for people who are still considering between those two.
Many people would think like me, a price of PS3 in exchange of 360 AND a Wii. Now the bill is huge for this month ops:
