Pick a display (With a budget)

I thought I'd see what everyone would pick given each technologies +'s and -'s on a budget, (or with cost as a deciding factor, as different people have different budgets). I've left FP's out as one, they have their own section : and two they have additional lighting concerns etc that would need to be adressed beyond these options.

For price/performance (bang for the buck), is there any other choice besides CRT? Heck, for performance alone, regardless of price, the other technologies don't quite reach CRT's capabilities yet.

I would have picked used CRT based FPTV, but that wasn't on the list! :W

This was a no brainer for me because of cost. I have very limited funds. My wife(if you can believe it) stumbled upon a brand new, still in the box, RCA D52W20 HD RPTV at an incredible price. So we took our chances and purchased it.

Help pick a receiver for a friend
            by aud19
A friend of mine is looking to upgrade his system, he's purchased a bunch of new Energy C-series speakers and is diving in to 7.1. Unfortunately the budget won't allow for a full seperates system like the new Rotel 1068 and a 1075 and 1080 amp set up. At least not all at once and not now. So this is...

A brief look at the budget Beryllium from SB Acoustics
            by JonMarsh
Beryllium dome tweeters haver been proliferating over the last few years, which is likely a good thing, if not exactly a panacea. I was attracted to the SS 6640 due to it's extended response and lack of a pronounced breakup mode (compared with other hard dome tweeters) in both the on axis and distortion...

How do you divide your HT budget?
            by markov
I'm curious as to how other people divided up their budgets for their home theatre. Specifically what percentage you spent on 5.1 speaker set up vs. electronics (for this purpose lets assume only receiver or pre/pro and 5 channels of amplification and 1 disc player of any type). If you want to give...

So I'll be building a HTPC for\with a friend of mine in Feb-March. I understand a lot can change in a month or so but I'd love to know if I'm on the right track, also if anyone knows of some great technology right around the corner...? :P I've built quite a few PC's in the past mostly for my home office...
