    Bad CRT Gun

Hi all, I wonder if anyone else has heard of this. Every time I power up or power down my Sony 51 " widescreen, I get a flash of red across the screen. I am pretty sure that my red CRT gun is probably toast. Has anyone else had to get theirs fixed? If so, is it a big deal? I would imagine I will have to get my set recalibrated after as well.

Typically, the guns are the life of the set, and also the most expensive thing to replace. I don't know what the cost would be. I know they are talking 400-500 just to put a convergence amplifier in my Elite.

      Toshiba 57H84 blue gun failure

My father-in-law had Best Buy come out and look at his TV after it died. He was told the blue CRT failed and he needs a new TV because parts are not available.
The TV is only about 3 years old. When I lost a CRT (bad input) on my Mits , I just lost that gun's contribution-the whole set didn't...

      Why upscale DVD on HTPC?
      by JonMarsh
I know from a variety of questions and mail I get that a lot of folks are curious as to why upscaling DVD to HD or projector resolutions can offer any benefits. If you've seen it already, you probably don't have to ask, but if you haven't seen it done properly, it's a bit of a chicken and the egg situation-...
