That seems like a reasonable deal, but no 'race out and get it right now price'.

To assist others who wish to comment, specs are as follows:

      PT-L200U

      700 ANSI Lumens 16:9 Native Micro-Cinema Projector

      U.S. List Price: $1,999.00
      PT-L200U

      Features

      700 ANSI lumens brightness

      Digital keystone correction

      700:1 Contrast Ratio

16:9 wide screen LCD panels - 4:3 compatible

      858 x 484 resolution

      Whisper-quiet 28dB

      6.4 lbs

      SD memory card slot

      6 picture modes

      Up to 5000-hour lamp life

      Color temperature adjustable

      Optional ceiling mount

      Multi-function wireless remote

      2-watt speaker

      Enhanced noise reduction technology

      One-year limited warranty

Bam, check out the Sanyo Z1 at Quebecacoustic.com. It looks comparable in features for just under $1700.

I think if I was gonna go a Sanyo, I'd tell him to scrape together another 800ish and get a Z2. That's a real crowd pleaser.

I think the Panny will be a pretty nice projector. If he needs to run it in daylight though, he may need to look for a bit more lumens. However, the Lumens is not always a true indicator of brightness anyway. Read a review or two, that's a good place to start.

Unless you had a problem with DLP projectors, I'd choose the InFocus X1 instead. It costs a couple hundred (Canadian) more, but you get better light output, much better contrast, better blacks, and comparable resolution.

I don't want to get into trouble posting dealer links, but the X1 can be found in Canada for less than 1400 bucks...

I'd do some searching if I were you...

Bam I sent you an email to some vendors that might be of interest.

check out the Studio Experience 1HD as well before buying anything else.
