I was at Home Depot today and saw some slightly greyish melamine (particle board with a laminate on one side) Looked like it might do ok as a screen. Any thoughts?
Has anyone tried melamine for a screen

I tried making a 60" screen one time out of white foamboard. It was for use with an older lcd PJ I used to tote around. Trouble was with the surface. Too shiny. Reflection cause too much hotspotting. I believe melamine would be similar.

Yeah, too shinny.I went with 1/2" MDF,2 coats of primer( I just finnished the second coat), then 4 coats of Berh Ultra White Eggshell, then I'll sand it all smooth.Very Hi-end screen, total cost $45.I'll get to see how it looks next week. I'm driving my wife crazy with all this projector talk.Going from a 50" 4x3 TV to a 90" 16x9 screen should be awesome!!!- Bottom

I've ended up going with a flat Ultra White instead of the eggshell finish. The eggshell had a slight sheen so maybe some potential for hotspotting. The flat should have enough gain.I have a very dark room so it should be ok.It's good to have left-over paint around from other projects.Posted a pic in the gallery of how it's coming along so far.- Bottom

by FroDaddyHas anyone ever purchased untextured black melamine? Preferably iron on? Flat black or glossy, it doesn't matter.
I have only been able to find textured.
Thanks
EDIT: Some other laminate will do as well-

by JonMarshHi Guys and Gals,
