I moved from Frederick MD in 1994. It was V close to Poolesville. At that time, it was V rural, but the area was one of the fastest growing in the country at the time.

My impressions: a beautiful, pastoral region, V near all necessary services (20 min) max.
~30 min from Baltimore and DC. Tons of cultural events and arts. Tons of Civil War history. Good schools, good restaurants.

How much it has changed is a guess, but I would think urban sprawl has detracted a bit from the more laid-back character it had, but you will to do some more research to find out for yourself.

Sorry, I don't have anything to add about Poolesville. I've never been to MD yet.
It's more likely a better question for the A/V Chalet forum, as that's more of a general forum, where this one is more specifically about front projectors.

            But welcome to HTG.

yeah one of my biggest questions is... does it still have autumn as I know it in New England ??

I'm quite a fan of warmer weather, but its the great change in the climate that I also enjoy... it makes you appreciate the warm weather just that much more

I've been given the oportunity to move down to my aunts 300 acre farm 8)

I can't wait to get my Dedicated batcave home theatre room started ! any quick tips guys ??

                    Best near-wall towers
                    by snmhanson
I am working on my DIY to do list for this spring/summer and one item is building new main speakers for my media room. The catch is that I have a ~12' wide x 22" deep alcove and the speakers will sit on each end of the alcove and in close proximity to the side walls of the alcove and the rear...

designing small speakers for near field listening (e.g., desktop)
                    by JonW
For my next project I’m thinking about making some rather small speakers for use in an office-based system. Maximum size on the order of ~6.5ā€ wide x 10ā€ tall x 8ā€ deep. And try to make as high end of a design as possible with low distortion and such. Given that the listener will be closer...

Measuring far field vs. near field + bafflestep
                    by igy137
                    Hi,

I'm a bit lost during measurements, please help.
I did some far field ground plane measurements and also near field measurements.

I tried to align the two graphs, applying calculated baffle step to near field.
They actually match quite well up to 2-3khz,...

                    Hi,

I'm thinking of buying the Magnepan mg12 speakers.
Can i place them near (1ft away) my tv (crt), or is the magneticfield to strong?
and what about near amps (Parasound) etc.?
at the moment my B&W 9nt speakers are 1.5 ft on the left and right of the tv and...
