    LCD calibration tool

Hi, just installed Tosh 32" lcd. Nice picture after playing with the mostly user friendly menus. But I know it is not set up even close to what it should or could be.
What is the best(simplest and will address the newer TVs) calibration or setup disc to get?
Thanx for any help and/or suggestions.

Either DVE or Avia will do the job but to get the most out of your display you'll need to get it calibrated by an ISF technician:

      Aud19,
Thanx for the reply. Would you know if one is better than the other, more features, easier to use? Which one is used by more people?

They both have their groups of people. Both do just about the same thing, the DVE does a little bit more with test patterns and what not that you might (or might never) use.

Avia is by far, much easier to use and both got me almost identical results when I've used them...

I'd probably go with Avia if you've never done any types of calibration before because it explains what you are looking for in each test better (more user-friendly that is).

Yeah I'd say Avia's a bit more user-friendly but DVE is more technically proficient.

            Gentlemen,
            Thanx for the feedback.
            I will go with Avia.

Just get them both, and you'll be better off. I've found each compliment each other, and use them both.

Chris, I probably should, someone had them bundled together.
Is it worth waiting for the HD/BD version due out in late 07?

Well, DVE is out already in HD-DVD, although the BD version has been delayed several times. I don't know if Avia is going to be coming out in high-def.

I'm kind of a junkie for those things, though. I own all sorts of demo discs, like those full of THX trailers, DTS trailers, Dolby Digital trailers, etc.

                    Chris,
I'd like to bother you once again. Will DVE hd run/play on a conventional
(non HD or BD) DVD player?
If not what version do I buy for my setup. The only thing that I have that
is high def is my LCD TV Tosh "32 720p.
                    Thanx to one and all.

Yes, the HD-DVD of DVE is a combo disc, so you can use it in standard players as well!
