    Lamp/Projector problem

Can any one help please. I have an infocus 4805 and when projecting there is a brownish line down the right side. Is this a lamp problem. I have taken the lamp out and cleaned as per instructions but this has not helped. Im lost as to what to do.

    Thanks

Is it a straight line? Clearly defined edge? If it's more like a blob than a straight line, it's probably dust in the optics somewhere. Can you post a pic? Do you see the line when projecting a solid white or gray image? Black image?

IIRC, the 4805 is DLP, right? If it's LCD, it could be a polarizer panel going bad (sometimes they burn up from the heat).

Click the "post reply" button in the bottom left corner, or "Go Advanced" in the bottom center. Then on the new screen click "manage attachments", and follow the instructions!

It's probably the dreaded 4805 light tunnel failure. You'll either have to cough up repair money or do surgery on the guts of the PJ to remount the mirrors lining the light tunnel, since one of them has come unglued and is blocking the light path:

Well I was really happy with the performance of my 4805 untill a couple days ago. I've had the projector for about 10 months and while my kids were watching a movie the other night the lamp exploded. (it was nothing short of an explosion either, I heard it from the second floor and it's mounted in the...

Okay now. I have an Infocus 4805, which I bought in August of 2004.
I went to turn it on last night, but the LED blinked twice, no picture.
I looked up the error code this morning, it is:

I have been very pleased with my Infocus 4805, but recently I noticed that the upper left corner of the image had a shaded area. The color was still good , but there that area of the screen was noticeably less bright. I also noticed that on power up before the lamp became too bright to look at, when...

I was fortunate enough to have the use of a new 4805 & 76-inch Infocus screen for a couple of weeks. I'm planning to buy a projector and screen in mid-February.

(Incidentally, it will definitely be a step up, no matter what: It's replacing a Kloss Novabeam built around 1982. Works...
