    RPTV Lamp Replacement

How do you know it is time to replace the lamp? I ordered a replacement for mine because the colors don't appear as vibrant and a red cast has appeared. I have had it for about 2.5 years.

I would bet a lot of them will have an onscreen warning when you get near the rated life. Your manual will probably say.

Another way to tell is when no light comes out. In that case, the indicator LED on the front of the set will probably flash.

I don't know if I am reached the rated life of the lamp, I just know my picture doesn't look good anymore. The replacement should arrive in about a week. I will post the results.

The new delivery date for the lamp is the 28th. If it doesn't solve the problem, I will have 3 days to get a new tv in time for the Rose Bowl.

My picture was getting bad on my Sony RPTV, so I just took the back off and cleaned the lamps in it. They needed it. I think alot of people are a little scared to do this, but it's pretty simple. Make sure the mirror is clean too.

I just found out my problem isn't the lamp. It is the light engine. I called Hitachi and they agree to provide the repair parts for free. I only pay the $150 labor to replace it.

I got my TV back total. Total cost was $212. Hitachi paid for the parts and I picked up the labor. The light engine is the most expensive piece of the TV and now I have a brand new one. I was surprise to find out they replaced the lamp while it was in for service. So now I have a spare bulb on the shelf since I intended to replace it once the TV was returned.

The picture is better than when I first bought it.

Good deal! One thing to remember is with the newer DLP/LCD/SXRD/LCOS etc. displays, the image changes over time as the lamp dims and heat cycles.....still have to "tweak" video setting now and then...not as often as CRTs, but they are definitely not image maintenace free yet.

Bad lamp news for all of us . . .

Except you three eyed monster owners, who may now take a short moment to gloat.

A coworker spoke to a contact at Ushio at the recent LDI convention in Las Vegas (stage and theatrical lighting products trade show) about the previously discussed UHP lamp shortage. He indicated this issue...

                    Hello everyone,

It seems I'm having trouble with my Epson 710c Powerlite. I replaced the lamp 200 hrs before the Lamp replacement of 2000 hrs and I can't reset the Lamp hours (which is currently @ 2009 hrs.).

Here is what I've done thus far:

                    I have replaced...

Time to move on or not?

Well.......my 60" Sony SXRD 1080P RPTV is complaining that I need another lamp replacement and I'm wondering if it's time to move on? I paid $2300 bucks for this TV and have to admit, I like the picture just fine (looks better than most flat panels I'm seeing nowadays!) . I dunno.......It would...

lamp on my Panny AE900U / need input

To all fellow AE900U owners, can you share some light?

My PJ is 2y old and the lamp reached 2100 hrs. Starting at around 1800 hrs, the hours in the menu started flashing red. Once the lamp reached 2100, the pj would automatically shut down and restart again on its own. This happened twice...

                    Lamp for Sony RPTV

Well folks, it looks like I'm cruzin' quickly into getting a new lamp for my Sony SXRD RPTV!. The picture has started to fluctuate in brightness while watching it. The timing is about right because it's been many years since I last changed it.

Question though, The manual states to go...
