    Fish eye lens panning?!?!?

    Hi there,

After tons of research, and getting help from a lot of you here, I finally went and did it! Had my heart set on a Dalite 119" tab tensioned, motorized screen and the Panasonic AE 900u projector. Ended up getting the screen, but changed the projector at the last minute to a BenQ PE7700 - a DLP projector. the image quality on this thing was just fantastic, and ended up getting a good deal.

However, since this is my first projector installation, I had a major question, which I'm sure some of you may be able to help out in.

In some movies where there is a "panning" shot, I get a real weird effect on the screen. It's almost like wide angle lens panning, where the parts of the image closer to the right or left edges of the screen are moving quicker than the parts in the center. At first, I thought that perhaps this is a Keystone correction issue, as there is a slight amount of tilt to the projector and I had to apply a little keystone to get the image right. However, i took it out and played the pan scenes over... Same thing.

    Any ideas?

Please help.. I have a feeling that several thousands of dollars have gone down the tubes.

There are no dealers to speak of as such in Pakistan, so I'm kind of helpless.

    Thanks,

    Fauzi

Sounds like you have your aspect set to WIDE instead of ANAMORPHIC.

      Kevin,

I do!! I just checked that out last night. Didn't have time to consult the users manual ( ops: )... So that's it!!! Thanks so much!

The other question I had was this: I was reading in a lot of places that this particular unit, the lamp tends to blow early (b/w 100-600 hours). BenQ apparently has fixed this problem and state that the units made after Jan of this year should not have this problem.

You sound like you have this projector... Any news on this?

Nope, don't even have a projector. It's a common problem that I just looked up your manual to get the right terminology they use.

I did install a Runco that had the same issue, and it was essentially a BenQ inside. It had a premature bulb blowing problem as well that was fixed with a firmware upgrade earlier this year.
