In the market for a 50" 1366x768 plasma. I've heard good things about the Panny, but have also been told the AVM-II on the Fujitsu makes all the difference in the world and justifies the higher price. Anybody see these side by side? Which should I get?
Fujitsu P50XHA40US or Panasonic TH-50PHD8UK?

Fuijistu and Pioneer Elite models are top notch PDP's at top notch prices. The Panny's give you say 90% of that quality at a sizeable discount. Only you can decide if the added quality is worth it or the Panny's value is more to you're liking. generally for the non-wealthy (most people) I'd recommend the Panny.Jason- Bottom

agreed, the pioneer/ elite is felt to be superior to that fujitsu... in larger sizes the fujitsu wins due to an old panel being used in the pioneer
the elite has a new lower price point than the two other older models you mention
personally i feel the difference is pretty profound between the pioneer and panasonic
keep in mind the fujitsu doesnt have hdcp encryption
go to pioneers website and look for authorised online retailers... the will shoot you a quote that rivals BB cost :W
edit: happened to se the pro panasonic model today
while it is carried over from last year it is notably superior to the commercial model... slightly different glass with superior scalerLast edited by peterS; 05 August 2006, 15:25 Saturday.- Bottom

You can buy the Pioneer Elite PRO-1130HD 50" for about the cost of the new Panny. The Pioneer is a much better panel for a number of reasons. I've had mine for about 6 months now and absolutely love it. Don't waste your time and money on the Fujitsu. It no longer justifies its high price as there are better panels on the market for less.
Oh yeah... the Elite has a 2 year warranty.- Bottom

1130 is $8500 CDN MSRP
Panny is $4480 CDN MSRP... the 1130 is almost double the price... so is there some place where this model is sold at a great discount that I don't know about? The Panny sells for about $3800 street.
2nd issue is the 1130 has native resolution of 1280x768 which is not a true 16:9 ratio... 1365x768 is...
I finally saw the Elite PRO-FHD1 and THAT is the one to have... but at $11,000 CDN... it's pricey. Apparently, Panasonic has a 50" 1080p model as well, but only in Japan...
Are there any other North American options for a true 1080p Plasma?
What should I do? Perhaps wait for SED? Ah... it's a confusing time shopping for a TV right now! Sort of on the verge of 1080p but the current offerings are limited and pricey!- Bottom

I would argue your point that 1280x768 is not a true 16x9 format. Every scaler on the market supports it. More importantly, there is much more to it than simply comparing 1280x768 to 1365x768. Contrast, brightness, color accuracy are all more important and if you were to compare the panny to the pio, you would see a big improvement in PQ with the Pio. You might look for a Pioneer 5060... it is the same panel as the 1130 at a significant reduction in price. FYI: I paid right at $4000 USD for my 1130.Originally posted by jleeI looked into this...

since there really isn't anything that feeds out 1080P (besides blu-ray, and we know what we think of that) dont invest in one yet, wait till the prices go down, in the mean time just get a panny to hold you over.- Bottom

from personal experience, i think the panny has the better picture. maybe its just me, but i can usually see some artifacting on the pioneer units at our store. also, they burn in easier than any other plasma hands down. but from an installer point of view, the panny loses! its way heavier and we always have to go to home depot to get extra long bolts because of the curvy part at the bottom. gotta love the how the pioneer locates all inputs into a special "media center" though, that 50 inch requires very little effort to hang.RB-1070

by Dave999I have been trying to get either of the second generation Panasonic or Pioneer blu-ray players and they are pretty difficult to get a hold of. Best Buy had a few, but seem all sold out. All other places that I checked seem out? Also, a few places advertise that they have the new Pioneer, but I have...-

by razzbo56Can't decide between the Pioneer PDP-4270HD or the new Panasonic TH-42PX77U. What do you guys think. The Pioneer is actually about $120.00 cheaper right now. -
by willng24Hey Experts,
I just ordered the Panny TH50PHD8UK. Does anyone else have this yet? I just want to know if this was a good choice. Any advice/feedback will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance -
by comeupI personally have a Pioneer because that was as much as I was going to spend on a display not that I thought the picture was better. Every store I go in that sales Fujtsu says it is the best flat panal ever do you guys believe that? and out of the two which do you think has the best picture? I do think... -
by btf1980I'm just heartbroken about this. I was really looking forward to the 9mm Kuro. First Fujitsu, and now Pioneer. The premier plasma manufacturers have called it quits within months of each other. For some like me, LCD is not an option if it's 50" or larger.
