    Best <$2500 HDTV?

First off, great forum and thanks for any help in advance. I am in the market for a 42" HDTV. I will be using it with Dish network and a new DVD player not yet identified and a less than $500 Home Theater in the Box sound system. Advice on any component would be appreciated. I am open to any kind of display, plasma. DLP, PLC or rear projection. Not interested in front projection. Set depth is not critical, but not much more than 15" would work best.
    Thanks again,

CRT RPTV will give you the best PQ and cost the least so that's where my recommendation would be especially considering size is not a concern for you. You should be able to pick up a nice 50" Hitachi CRT RPTV for under $1500. Then spend the rest of your budget to upgrade that P.O.S. HTIB (sorry  )

55 inch Sony WEGA. The A20 can be had at CC, BB and other places for that price. Awesome TV great picture.

The only thing that I can agree with Jason about is the HTIB. I would not get a CRT TV though. But that is just me. Me and Jason pretty much agree to disagree about the CRT vs RP LCD  oke:

So you can downgrade TV to like the 42A10 from Sony, for 1800 and spend the rest of the money on some good speakers, and a RX-V457.
The Bitterness of poor quality last longer than the joy of low prices.

Sorry, but CRTs will give the best picture.

However, that being said, I think the PQ of a good DLP easily bests plasma and RPLCD. Plus there's no smearing, no geometry issues, no burn-in.

The new 6th generation DLP chips are amazing with the 10,000:1 contrast ratio and native 1080p.... it's really good stuff.

So my suggestion is probably a good Samsung DLP is the best way to go. Once calibrated it's matched the best looking CRT screen I've seen...

If I HAD to go fixed pixel it would probably be Sony's new SXRD. But they're comparitively $$$$$$$$$$$$$$

Im not a Sony fan, nor LCD projection..... but I might buy it over the 1080p Sammy DLP... but I havent seen the Sammy yet... I saw the Mitsu, but wasnt impressed at all...
So for me to say that it, that means the SXRDs look good ;x(

Saw one a couple weeks ago Drew. They're pretty darned nice I too don't care much for Sony and they're $500+ Sony badges but I have to give credit, it's a nice display..... now if they could just do something about that price, otherwise I'm sticking with CRT and Hitachi or Mitsubishi
