wallcovering vs. paint for DIY screen

anyone have experience with products such as http://www.walltalkers.com? seems like a good (and easy) alternative to paint on screens. descibed as 'lenticular embossed vinyl'.

my architect wife uses it with great success in classroom settings (their 'erase-rite', whiteboard-biased product), and they have a projection-biased flavor as well (nu-vu-rite) which looks pretty good...matte white, 0.95 gain, low fall-off.

roll it on, frame it in trim, and i think it would look pretty nice. and if you only framed it vertically, it would give you some flexibility and allow multiple projection aspect ratios without having it look so off when projecting at a ratio not matching the screen.

    thoughts?

I'm about to embark on a new DIY project in building my first screen for my future projector. In searching around I've come across a few useful links that I'll share with you.

The first is a fairly large PDF on installing screens and projectors etc. Its 74 pages long and full of valuable...

    Cheapie High Contrast Screen?

I've got to be the weirdest guy on the FP forum.

Though I've had projectors (CRT and LCD) from 1987 onwards, since I sent off my Sony VPL-W400Q to ThomasW in 1999 or thereabouts, I haven't had one at home to use...

I built a screen for my 400Q which used a solid oak frame...

    screen paint
    by chuckaroo
Hey Guy's, the old chuckster back here with you after a brief pause.
My Z2 should be on the way but before I buy a screen (big bucks) I'd like to experiment with the paint and (or) a bed sheet. Would like to size up everything.
A few threads back (which I cannot find) I think Bam was referring...

I just purchased my new projector, Acer PH530 (2500:1, 1000Lum). It should be here early next week. I am building an 8x8 wall in my unfinished basement. I plan on painting the bottom part and about 1 foot of the top flat black, and the rest will be the screen. I need to paint the screen portion,...

    Shiny paint?

OK, this really belongs in the Spaced Out forum, but I need thread traffic . . .

We are soon painting our "family room and kitchen", as my wife refers to our home theater. We got a projector, and this has illustrated to her quite well why I prefer as dark a shade as she can...
