    Need PQ screen recommendation

I'm about to make a move to a PJ from my RPTV. After a lot of research I have narrowed down my PJ choices to either the BenQ 8700 or the Optoma H77. Now I need to move on to screen selection.

I intend to use a motorized roll up screen. Format to be 16x9 with a diagonal dimension of about 100 to 120 inches. This all goes into my family room where light control may be an issue, and the room may not be 100% dark on all occasions.

I would appreciate any input you choose to give about your selection and the reasoning behind it. Thanks for your input!

I have owned two roll downs in the past Jerry and I despised them both. I just couldn't stand the wrinkles/waves. I have even read that some of the so-called rolldowns with non-wrinkle framing can still show wrinkles. Maybe the more expensive Stewart or Da-Lite screen will not have that wrinkle problem, I don't know. The two I owned were a Draper and the other an unknown that came with the first lcd PJ I bought. I had a dedicated room so decided the way to go was with a fixed wall screen. I currently own a 52 x 92 " Da-Lite DaMat 1 gain screen. It is somewhat like a vinyl material and easy to clean, and is snapped in place to an aluminum frame that is fixed to the wall.

I'd recommend looking at a tensioned manual pull-down screen.

The motorized ones are cool, but there is a real price premium that is better spent on a tensioned, high quality screen.

Stewart Firehawk is nice (I have the Grayhawk, but full light control).
And both DaLite and Draper have higher gain, high contrast screen materials to help when there is some ambient room light. 8)

        Jerry,

        Congratulations.

There are many factors to consider, I will provide a few based on my limited knowledge:

        1) Ceiling mount vs. Table mount
        2) Viewing Cone
        3) Screen Gain
        4) Budget

I'm partial to the Vutec SilverStar, however the following URL should help:

        FP Screens

        Good Luck,

        Arman

          Need screen suggestions
          by M.Roberts8
I am almost ready to order my projector. Was planning on the panny 900 but now the new ones are out and I am leaning toward the sanyo Z5 since I can get it for 200.00 more(after rebate) than the 900.
For screens I am looking at a manual pull-down right now but I have some concerns about the "waves"...

Using an infocus 4805 in a very dark basement room with only one window (blocked with curtains) what gain screen would I want to use.
I can get this room pitch black, even in the middle of the day. Only light would be from lamps, if they are on.
