How are the 1/4 HD PJ's

I see Mitubishi dropped the price on the HC3 down to $999.99.
How will this compare will the Sanyo Z2 or a PJ with the higher Res?

My mind says go for the higher res but my wallet says to look for a deal...

Mainly playing DVD's but will be adding HD down the road.

I believe mitsu states the contrast ratio of the HC3 to be 400:1 - not quite stellar performance IMO...

It's 500:1 but it has a higher lumen of 1300. The review sounds great for the money(list price was $2795.00) but I'm not sure about the resolution.

There's a host of other 1/4HD PJs out there that would be around that price point as well like the Studio Experience 1HD or Sanyo Z1. I own the 1HD and it looks fantastic for DVD's and scales HD material rather well. Granted its not as smooth looking as the higher pixel projectors like the 2HD etc but I'm in no hurry to upgrade. There's someone selling a Z2 over on the Home Theater Forum for a decent price if you'd consider buying used.

I did a side by side between the hc3 and 1hd. The 1hd is hanging from my ceiling .
Just better all round pq, but if you are a gamer you might want the lumens. IMO

I would go for the InFocus 4805 or the Epson Home 10+ long before the mitsubishi. That is pretty low contrast, and is something you will grow frustrated with rapidly, IMO. They are DVD resolution instead of 1/4 HD, but the PQ of those, or the Sanyo, will be better.
