    does my 4805 convert?

If I input a composit video, from a VCR (used as a tuner), into my SP4805, does it get converted into a progressive scan signal or does it stay interlaced?

    Yes.

The 4805 converts everything input to a 480 x 854 progressive signal (ehich may or may not include adding black bars to sides or top and bottom), whether that requires up or down scaling, de-interlacing or both. This is required as that is the only type of signal its imaging engine can display.

      Progressive Scan DVD Player
      by junior77blue
So, if my hitachi TV upcoverts all my signals into 1080i, what's the purpose of having a progressive scan DVD player?

Wouldn't it make more sense to 'feed' the TV with a raw signal as opposed to feeding it the progressive scan signal, and then having the TV upsample that once again....

Will a progressive scan DVD player be of benefit?
      by P-Dub
From what I know, if I don't have a TV capable of receiving a progressive scan signal, a progressive scan DVD player is a waste of money.

However, with the prices coming down, should it be a consideration? I'm thinking about the cost of the Tosh 3750, which I've seen for C$350 and the...

      ScreenPlay 4805 vs. InFocus x1
      by davedvf
      Hello,

I purchased the InFocus x1 a couple of years ago along with a portable Da-Lite white 6x8 screen. We use it a couple of times a month (whenever a movie worthy of the extra effort comes along, or when the kids invite their friends over, etc). It has also been a blast to host our...

RSP 1098 and progressive scan dvd/dvd audio players
      by Henk
The RSP 1098 TFT screen displays no video unless a usable signal is passed through the composite video connection. However, as pointed out in the RSP 1098 manual not all dvd players, set in progressive mode, output a usable composite video signal. This is true also for dvd players that play dvd audio....
