I tried that styrofoam thing a few years ago when I had an old lcd projector I liked to setup in another room to watch hockey games on. The styrofoam whiteboard was okay but the shiny surface caused hotspotting in the picture quality. Also, be aware that styrofoam is affected by heat and humidity and bends over time. Some of the guys here have made their own screens. I'm sure Andrew Pratt was one of them. If he doesn't reply here, why not send him a PM.- Bottom

Yep -- It seems that Andrew Pratt has tried just about every DIY screen method out there including various types of paint on different surfaces. If you can get his attention -- as George suggested, a private message (PM) might do the trick -- he should be able to give you the full rundown on what really works versus what is just a PITA. Also, an advanced forum search on his name plus keywords (such as "screen" will pull up past discussions such as the one at http://64.27.11.233/forum/showthread...ghlight=screen
Good luck!

4x8 sheet of styrofoam was also my first (but very temporary) screen. Besides the mild hotspotting (my PJ is mounted low and my scren fairly high so it didn't really happen to me), there's also the pebbly finish which was fairly visible to me.
Paint something instead.

by Andrew PrattThis might be better suited to the DIY forum but I'll leave it here for now. As some already know I should be getting a Sanyo Z1 projector in the next couple of weeks and as such I've been looking at screens. by capslockI just had an idea for an invisible distributed sub. Moved into a house that was built in the 80s. Walls are about 7 in. of brick + 2 inches of styrofoam on the outside + some mortar & paint. However, the window openings go all the way to the floor, and from about 3 ft. downwards, there is a sandwich...-

I am considering a perforated screen and my main viewing area will be about 12 feet from the 100-110 inch screen. Anyone familiar with perf screens know if at this distance I will see the perf holes? I am sure all screens are different, but does anyone have any personal... - Loading...
