    Metropolis What a unique classic!

I viewed this film for the first time a few days ago. I felt it important to see simply because many film critics have used it a a point of reference. It has also been listed as a must see. Well I have to admit, I was in no hurry to see this film. I live in an age of surround sound. A movie which is "silent" has no need to enter my theater!

Five minutes into the film, I found myself begining to be drawn into the amount of vision and the creative process that brought this idea to screen. To know what I was seeing was done in 1927, made me appreciate it's level of detail. The picture of future is amazingly created.

The restoration of this film is also top notch!!! I was very impressed at the depth of picture and clear scenes through most of the film. Hell, it looked better than "Star Trek's- The Wrath of Khan"

While I would not consider it as a great story, it was definitly entertaining, and a nice change of pace. Worth seeing for sure!

Even though I only own the old crap version of this movie, I think it is a great classic. Part of how I judge a movie is not the feeling immediately after seeing it, but how long its affect lingers. This one passes that test handily.

Glad you enjoyed it and brought it to the forum's attention.

Saw this in the theater when I was a kid. And no, sound was out when I was a kid. But this was re-released sometime in the forties. I don't recall actually liking it. But I have been tempted to pick up the dvd and rewatch. It is a classic for sure, and really should be in any collectors library.
