    Fritz Lang's "Metropolis"...

Got my BD copy of the restored Metropolis. Wow! Simply awesome. The film has been restored to the most complete lenght to date with the footage from South America found a few years ago. The footage from South America was a tranfer to 16mm and a little beat up so the quality is not as good as the rest of the film. The added footage flushes out some of the more obscure story lines that were excised form the North american cut; notably "the Thin Man". But, from a historical point of view, anything is better than nothing.

This title belongs in every movie buffs library......

Very cool. I was blown away by this movie when I made a blind purchase of it on DVD. I was doing research on the influences of The Matrix at the time. As an overall movie I thought it was so-so, actually, and if I were to go see it in the theaters today, I'd pass. But I was absolutely ASTOUNDED that somebody at that point in the history of film, wayyyyyyy back, had the ingenuity to come up with such an "out there" story, FAR beyond anything of the time. I give the dude mega kudos.

I might check out the BD, if you say there's new footage.

Yeah it was definitely ahead of its time. I'll be watching for the BD.

Movie versions of books (or vice versa)
          by Chris D
This may be a good discussion. The topic is popular books that have been made into movies. By and large, my personal opinion is that movie renditions of good books fall far short for a few reasons. First, I think due to the media of print, books allow for a much more thorough immersion of the reader...

I saw this movie this weekend. I've seen a few different reviews by people, some not all that hot (B-, C+) discussing this as "the new Julia Roberts Movie". And then they complain about how small a role Julia Roberts had in this movie.

Reality reset time, folks. Julia Roberts...

          finding an old movie
          by goe2112
          Hello all,
Just wanted to know if there is a good website that helps people find out the title of an old movie without knowing the title.

Just in case your curious, I'm searching for an older B sci-fi movie. All I remember about this movie is the ending, it takes place on a space...

Was looking at some review of some movie at some site and one of the comments was something like 'forget it Some Like it Hot is not the funniest movie ever made'. That got me thinking since I've never seen the movie...sooooo I checked it out on AMG and sure enough they rate it as one of the funniest...
