Indiana Jones coming to DVD

It will be a 4 disc box set released November 4th. The 4 disc will contain loads of extras. Looks like three more laserdiscs will be passed on to my son.

Great news, though. This was a long time coming.

Thanks for the news. I'm sure that many here will be standing in line at their local DVD store the day of release.

But for me, the waiting has come to the point that, ho hum, they are finally releasing a long delayed DVD of a movie I already have on laser disc. This would have been really exciting news even a couple of years ago when I was still in DVD "collector" mode (which got my DVD collection to nearly 750 titles). But after, what, five years of anticipation, and the realization that some people could buy a car or even equip an adequate entry level HT with the money I've spent on DVDs, :>) I've pretty much lost interest in the chase after DVD releases of the 400 or so titles that I have on LD that are not yet duplicated on DVD.

I saw Raiders of the Lost Ark in a commercial theater for the first time last summer, (not the first time to see the movie, just first time in a commercial theater), and it was exciting and a lot of fun even though it wasn't a pristine print. It reminded me that the many times I've watched the laser disc of the movie have also been an enjoyable experience. I'm sure the DVD will have a superb picture and stunning sound, but at this point I'd rather invest in new titles I don't already have in my collection.

Of course, I'll probably change my mind when I see the incredible release week price Best Buy puts on the set. :>)

I know where you're coming from, Burke, but as hard as I will try to resist, I know in the end I will replace my 3 lds. I'm stillholding out on the Die Hard series because the lds have 5.1 sound, but every now and then when I see these dvd titles on the shelf I find myself resisting the urge to buy.

I watched pretty much of the Indy series around the holidays on TV last year. Looks like this year, I'll control my own viewing schedule.

Certainly, I disagree with waiting so long on these. But I'm there.

These are really fun movies, LOOOONG overdue on DVD.

But my original Indiana Jones LDs are just OK quality, and I really like that they are going to bundle these three Indy movies in one box set.

And most likely, there will be some competitive pricing during the first week of release.

I can wait until then, but I'll be very happy to get these Indy movies on DVD.

These three movies and the orginal Star Wars trilogy to me, form the holy grail of DVDs. I'm absolutely thrilled that they are finally coming out on our favorite medium. Now, if they are only the PQ and SQ to end all DVDs. . . .
