    Best Shootout in a Western

There are so many it's hard to narrow it down to one only, so maybe the top 5. Mine are :
    (1) Shane
    (2) High Noon
    (3) Gunfight At The OK Corral ( with Lancaster and Douglas)
    (4) Tombstone ( gunfight at OK corral)
    (5) Unforgiven

Absolutely, David. Say, I guess there aren't many western fans here at The Guide. Oh, well, was just trying to create a little interest.

        George,

Count me in as a western guy. I tried to come up with some but I think you got the best and the only one I would add is John Wayne's True Grit and The Shootist

Hey, I'm a native Texan, so I was raised on a steady diet of Westerns. My stepfather raises cattle so I've grown up working them, too. Between the two of us, we should be able to show the un-washed heathen around here the error of their ways, don't you think?

I saw a great bumper sticker the other day: "I wasn't born in Texas, but I got here as fast as I could!"

Screening a favorite oldie western tonight
                    by George Bellefontaine
It's the 1946 release of MY DARLING CLEMENTINE, starring Henry Fonda as Wyatt Earp, Victor Mature as Doc Halliday and Walter Brennan as Ike Clanton. It's John Ford's version of the gunfight at the O.K. Corral and based on Sturat N. Lake's biography, Wyatt Earp Frontier Marshall. Even though it is similar...

Tex Meek already did an excellent review on this film over at AT THE MOVIES and he nailed it. So I won't go into story detail and what-not, but I have a few observations I would like to impart.

                    Appaloosa... a western with substance
                    by George Bellefontaine
Ed Harris, along with his backup man and best friend, Viggo Mortensen, are peacekeepers for hire. After the Marshall of Appaloosa is gunned down by Bragg, a mean and dangerous local rancher ( Jeremy Irons ), the town fathers bring in Harris and Mortensen. The task of returning peace and justice to the...

We had The Rotel 1090 preamp (Which btw, my buddy who has Conrad-Johnson mono tube amps, the matching preamp, Dynaudio speakers, very expensive cables, Krell,...
