    Blackhawk Down - R1 DVD Rumor!

    Rumor-mongering here, but on two other forums and also in the January Widescreen Review it's going around that Columbia Studios officials say that they plan to release Special Edition DVDs similar the Superbit DVDs released by Sony, and Blackhawk Down will be the pilot or at least one of the first! In other words - maximized video bandwidth along with DTS and DD 5.1 tracks on disc 1 and loads of extras on disc 2.

    Haven't heard a target date yet, darn it.

    Oh man, I hope it happens!

      Cool. But I thought Sony owns Columbia. So it sounds like they are basically going straight to Superbit.

              Yep. Sony owns Columbia. Bought them quite a few years ago.

                  Everything new should be at high bit rate on one disc (widescreen,of course) and extras on 2nd disc. As for Blackhawk Down, I will buy it, Superbit or no Superbit.
