While often insightful, such ‘surveys’ can be quite out of step with general public opinion. Nonetheless, I thought I would share this one.

Also, I would be curious to know just how many of our members have actually seen the majority (if not all) of the films compiled here. Some of the titles are probably a bit obscure to the younger generations.

I've seen the ones in bold above. I've not yet seen enough films to select "best ever made" (I've seen over 12000 movies at last count, but that's a tiny fraction of what's out there). I enjoy all the ones I've seen from above, but would only rank Citizen Kane in my personal top ten. When I have time (gotta run to an appointment), I'll try to compile my own top ten here.

Interesting lists, though--and I will try to catch some of them.

Under critic's best films I saw all but those ones from the 20s. I've seen all but one ( Mirror ) of best director films and, in fact, own most.

Interesting, but wasn't Citizen Kane number one under the last Critics Top 10 list ? If I'm correct in thinking that, then Vertigo has moved up the ladder.

Yikes. I've only seen 3 from the first list, and 6 from the second list.

Yes, in fact Vertigo has supplanted 'Rose Bud' as #1.
Not sure I understand that?
