DVD Rental Pricing On The Way ?

I've been reading posts at other sites about the pending "rental pricing" of DVD, possibly as early as next year.How do you feel about this ? As for me, I will still buy, but it looks as though I will have to wait longer for new releases to get to the sell-through price range. No way will I pay $80 to $100 for a title. On the bright side, sell through prices may end up being lower than current dvd titles. Guess we'll just have to wait and see.

Not something I'm looking forward to, though it may be inevitable. It depends on how much leverage Blockbuster and the like really have. If so, I'll be postponing my purchases, too. It will be interesting if it vaires by studio, and how that plays out on their bottom line. I think DVD has encourage an unprecedented level of buy through compared with LD and VHS.

No doubt, it's coming. DVD is becoming popular, in a few more years it will probably be the mainstay of home video, which means mass rental market.
I don't mind, as long as all releases are still top quality and OAR.
There are still many older movies to buy, I'll just buy them until the newer releases street...ya know, anything I've seen at the theater doesn't usually get watched on DVD for about a year anyway. I don't rewatch movies in a quick time frame.
I like to let some time go by between each veiwing.

It will be a sad day. But movie companies know there is more money to be made with dual pricing.
