Called the Das Boot of tank movies by at least one critic. Worth renting but, not even close to being in the league of Das Boot. While the tight quarters of the tank were well depicted I felt the story was weak. It bothered me that members of the infantry would pop in and out of the tank but, no member of the tank crew ever stuck his head out.

I bought a copy (I teach Modern Middle Eastern history on a regular basis and have a growing collection of films set in the region) and recently watched it. It is no Das Boot (though the one review I read that made such a comment was careful to emphasize the contextual similarities and not the qualitative ones).
I believe it will be useful in a classroom setting (exposing my students to a film in Hebrew and Arabic) but it is not sufficiently gripping a narrative to warrant repeat viewings purely from a cinematic standpoint--on that I will concur.- Bottom

Paul,
Another Middle-East-based tank film that you might be interested in (if you haven't seen it already) is 1988's The Beast. Starring George Dzunda, Jason Patric, Steven Bauer and Stephen Patrick, the story concerns a Soviet tank crew in Afghanistan. It is a hard, gritty, uncompromising look at the claustrophobic environment of a tanker's life and what happens when the relationship of the team fractures under pressure. Beautifully filmed, well written, well acted.
It's not Das Boot, but what is? Very highly recommended.
Apologies for going OT.....

by David MeekJust thought I'd warn you. The Superbit DVD of Das Boot has only the German soundtrack in DTS. The English version is DD 5.1. Personally, on this movie I don't care. I've seen the English version enough that I watch it in German with subtitles now. Can't wait to here this in DTS - wow!

This project was started in June 2003, when I had trouble running DFT (Drive Fitness Test) on a floppyless machine. I emailed IBM technical support and asked them if it was possible to boot DFT from a CD, and the answer I got was "no".

by starfordAfter updating to 6.86 formware on my C1, I observe the following:
At boot up (hard power reset, or after power failure), the C1 will turn on the 12v triggers, and I think one stays on. I have a pair of A23s attached to a 12v trigger on the C1 that will stay on indefinatly. This is a...-
