    Into the Wild

Just watched this one, based on strong ratings and that portions are set in the Alaska wilderness.

I was really touched by this movie, mostly about the human condition. I could feel the pain of the main character, although I get the strong impression that he was even more messed up than really let on by the movie, or portrayed by the actor.

Some GORGEOUS scenes in the movie, especially the Alaskan wilderness. Those who watch this movie (or a few other choice films set in Alaska) might start to understand why I love it so, and choose to live there. Much of the soundtrack is also special songs created by Eddie Veder (of Pearl Jam fame) which troubingly fit the movie very well.

Not a perfect movie; the emotional and intellectual mood of the story was well-played, but not quite perfect. Overall, very well done, and I would recommend this movie to just about anyone. Very little to none of gratuitous violence, bad language, or sex.

    I rate :4: out of :5:

Saw this movie a while back and I completely agree, it was amazingly good and was one of my favorite movies at the time. Definitely one of the movies that turned me onto possibly moving to Alaska some day

      Are you sure it's a movie, Chris ? :P

Seriously, I sort of liked it. The scenery was spectacular.

        Based on a true story.

After graduating from Emory University in 1992, top student and athlete Christopher McCandless abandoned his possessions, gave his entire $24,000 savings account to charity and hitchhiked to Alaska to live in the wilderness. Along the way, Christopher encounters...

        Classic Theater in Anchorage, Alaska
        by Chris D
I thought I'd share some classic photos I came across for the 4th Avenue Theater in Anchorage, Alaska. I absolutely LOVE theaters like this from around the US, that have such a rich history of the classic era of film. I think it's so sad that these theaters keep disappearing, and think it's a sign of...

This movie doeasn't rate the trouble of a full movie review in my book, so just a few of my opinions:

        - The flick seemed like it was too obviously knocking off "Lion King" and "Madagascar", perhaps with a bit of "Chicken Little" thrown in.

Wild Target: An actual good movie from 2010?
        by Chris D
In a year of movie stinkers, I was very pleasantly surprised to come across this little gem by random. It's a satirical, silly little comedy about a professional hit man, from a family of contract killers, hired to kill an art thief but instead finds himself protecting her. They are joined by a quirky...

How long is your Netflix or Blockbuster queue? (and how many movie have you rated?)
        by Chris D
I signed up for Netflix about 9 months ago, and have steadily been putting in all my ratings for movies that I've seen. When you do all the numbers, it's pretty amazing.

        - So far, I've rated 1,639 movies. As I come across or think of movies I've seen, I go to Netflix and rate them....
