    Land of the Lost

Watched it last night. It wasn't really funny, but fun to watch. The Matt Lauer scenes were the funniest.

However, the part that stood out the most was the surround effects. EASILY the best surround-processed blu-ray I've watched. Beats every action movie I've seen. The panning and transition between all speakers are just so flawless and natural. That's actually the reason why I watched the whole movie... I wanted to hear more.

Overall, it's was alright. More of a rental than a purchase for me.

Yeah, it had its moments though and I did laugh out loud a few times. The cgi was really cheesy and I'm sure that was on purpose since it was based on an old tv series.

I watched the DVD last night. Humm, it was kind of funny, but at the same time boring. I ended up making dinner through some of it. It was always right on the edge of being funny, but most ended up being a guff instead of a laff or a good chuckle.

The little monkey creature was generally creepy.

Didn't really notice the sound value myself, not sure difference between DVD or BR DVD, or just indifference.

I think the campiness was a over done, they wanted campy, but might have tried a little too hard.

Mostly thought it was ok, doubt I would buy it... even for $6

My father, the HD newbie (funny story)
        by sikoniko
Last summer my father bought himself a 42 in plasma. He lives in Ohio, I live in Florida. When I visited him shortly after he had regular cable, so I instructed him to upgrade to HD service (he has Insight). Dutifully, he did.

Over the phone I would ask him what he thought and he would...

        Sky Captain

I saw this last night and really enjoyed this movie. As with Indiana Jones films, it was a wild adventure. And visually Sky Captain was a real treat, being consistant with the 30s-40s style. They kept within the parameters of the time period. Even the futuristic technology was 40s sci-fi stuff.

Mission to Mars and High Fidelity
        by Ken McDaniel
Tonight was double movie night at the McDaniel Theater. Well first is started with a trip to the local restaurant. Needless to say, it's very tough to find good Tex Mex when you're not in Texas.

I first popped in Mission to Mars. Definately one of the better science fiction releases of...

Watched Final Fantasy & Air Force 1 Super Bit
        by Bing Fung
Watched these 2 titles the other day, loaned by a friend.

Final Fantasy, Wow, my sub has never seen such a work out :E This is one fantastic movie, sure the story line kinda falls apart at the end, or is sort of lame, but the 3D rendering and animation is nothing short of incredible!...

What have you watched on TV lately? (today, last night, etc..) Running Thread

Please limit to no spoilers, but brief description of plot lines ok, without spoilers.

I watched a movie with Woody Harrelson, about a Russian train ride, involving drugs, corruption, and their journey. Trans-Siberian I think it was. It was actually pretty good. Of course, Woody is...
