    What Happens In Vegas

Rented this on Blu yesterday. Nice picture quality. Cameron Diaz is easy on the eyes. Ashton Kutcher is, well okay, I guess. It's a tired old predictable plot. A few chuckles but not much substance overall. Basically Diaz and Kutcher, rebounding from personal failures, meet up in Vegas, get drunk and get married, etc., etc. Of course, neither wants to be married to the other and when Kutcher wins $3 million on Diaz's quarter, the trouble begins. So will they overcome the trials and tribulations of a court-ordered decision that the 3 Mil be held in escrow while Diaz and Kutcher make a genuine effort to see if the marriage can work out. Will they or won't they. Well, as I said, the plot is predictable.

A pleasant 90 or so minutes if you like romantic comedies, but it won't win any awards...

I saw it a couple of nights ago. It had a few good moments and chuckles here and there and was generally fun, but as you said no awards for this one.

(Unfortunately) sounds like something the wife would like, so I'll probably rent it (thankfully, she rarely watches any movie more than once, so I don't have to buy movies like this with any regularity).

George, so you're suggesting that this is not the "killer" disk that will persuade everyone on the fence to convert to BluRay? :>)

What you DON'T say may be held against you...

You're a riot, Burke. No, that "killer" disk is still a way off, along with sensible pricing as well.

My wife enjoyed this much more than I.

Got a chance to watch this one tonite. Not too bad. Did anyone check out the system at his apartment? I've seen those speakers before but I can't remember the name.

I missed that. Can't check because I only rented the disc.

                Meridian speakers. Very expensive.

This was predictable and maybe too clever by half. I did enjoy watching it, once.

Yeah, a one timer for sure.

                    The Holiday
                    by George Bellefontaine
If you liked What Women Want and Something's Gotta Give, you'll also like The Holiday because all titles mentioned were directed by Nancy Meyers.

The Holiday is a romantic drama ( with a few chuckles) that stars a trimmed down Kate Winslet, a vibrant Cameron Diaz, a sympathetic Jude...

...movie, but I found it fairly entertaining. It stars Ashton Kutcher, Katherine Heigl and Tom Selleck. Kutcher is an assassin, for a secret government ageny. Heigl, unhappy with past romances and bothered by her overprotective dad ( Selleck ), meets Kutcher and eventually thinks that he is the ideal...

                    The Rookie - a review
                    by Patrick Sun
This film was very much on an even keel the entire way, it didn't get too high, nor too low.

If you like baseball yarns, it'd make for a good matinee. Dennis Quaid does a very credible job looking like a 40 year old trying to chase a 20 year old dream that got away from him in his youth....

Ouch not a nice review for Butterfly Effect

PARK CITY, Utah -- The Butterfly Effect is a lot like its star, Ashton Kutcher -- desperate for respect, completely without substance and very, very goofy.

It tries to be many things, fails at most of them, but emerges as surprisingly...

                    by George Bellefontaine
This is a suspense thriller directed by Mike Figgis ( Leaving Las Vegas) and stars Sharon Stone and Dennis Quaid as a NYC couple who want to escape the rigors of big city life. They decide to go rural and purchase a rundown old mansion called Cole Creek Manor. Now everything should be fine, right ?...
