    Southland Tales

Ok, so I watched this one over the weekend and at this stage it still has me utterly perplexed. Not the story mind you, I got that much. I think. What has me is this - I'm not sure if I saw one of the worst movies in a long time or saw one of the best, most original pieces of work ever made. As I said I'm confused. Reviews seem to love or hate. I don't know where I sit yet.

I should note at this stage it's from Richard Kelly, of Donnie Darko fame and I loved... really loved that movie.

Theme is similar - the end of the world and the events that lead up to it.

The cast is an eclectic mix - Dwayne 'the Rock' Johnson, Sarah Michelle Geller, Christopher Lambert, Jon Lovitz, Miranda Richardson, Kevin 'Silent Bob' Smith and Sean Willian Scott of American Pie fame. Lots others too. Oh, and Justin Timberlake.

I know I enjoyed watching it but it had me bothered - I felt I shouldn't enjoy it. I can't say at this stage why. I suppose before I offer any sort of a rating I'm going to have to watch it again, and maybe again.

Has anyone else seen this one? I'd love to hear your thoughts - this movie is sort of haunting me!
    Vincent.

I don't want the world. I just want your half.

After reading some reviews, I'm intrigued. I'll have to watch this one for myself.

I rented it awhile back, Vincent. It is definitely different, sort of science fiction, drama and black comedy all rolled into one.. Actually, I was pretty impressed with Dwane Johnson's acting in this one. He was really good as the action film star with amnesia. Sarah Michelle Gellar as a porn star was interesting, too. Not a bad film over all, but one viewing was enough for me.

Yeah, Johnson was a highlight for me too. I also know what you mean about Buffy! Also, that dance scene with Timberlake was very memorable, not just for the 'nurses' but the music it was set to kinda took my breath away.

Timberlake - he 'aint pretty in this one!

Well, we're safe for now. Thank goodness we're in a bowling alley.

            by Burke Strickland
Anyone else "into" vinyl? NOT the kind you wear -- such as 1970's disco pants :>) -- but rather, the kind you spin for music. In other words, LPs!

One nice feature of the RDC-7, which you won't find in many competing models, is the built-in phono stage. Given the superb...
