    Gone Baby Gone powerful stuff...

It's directed by Ben Afleck and stars his baby brother Casey, along with a stellar cast including Ed Harris ( great here ) and Morgan Freeman. Casey is a private detective who, along with his lover/partner ( Michelle Monaghan ) get involved with a case of a missing child. The plot has a lot of twists and turns so you have to watch and listen carefully to what is being said ( tough at times due to some thick Boston accents ) or you'll easily get lost. In the end I was disgusted with the Casey Afleck character for the decision he made ( making what you may think is the correct moral decision isn't necessarily the right moral decision in the end ), and I thought about it hours after the movie ended. But that was what was intended by the director ( Ben ) who also co-wrote the screenplay. All in all, a powerful two hours of excellent acting, directing and writing.

    A huge :T

George, I agree 100% with everything you wrote. Especially about his decision and the final scene with the "mom". I was upset for quite a while. An emotional, hard movie with fine performances across the board. Ed Harris should get an Oscar nomination, and probably Ben Affleck for directing, also. This is not an easy film to see, but if you are in the mood for a well-crafted one, don't pass it up.

P.S. I added spoiler tags to that one segment in your post just to be safe.

Thanks, Tex. In the heat of writing it I overlooked the fact it could be a spoiler. And yes, I agree that Harris and Ben should get a nomination. I have never been a Casey Afleck fan, but I changed my mind after seeing this. He's a darn good little actor.

I have to disagree. Kidnapping is kidnapping even if the ends might (and I stress might) justify the means. Should it be up to those more fortunate and powerful to decide if a family (however dysfunctional) should arbitrarily be shattered to satisfy their own agenda or needs? And it's a lot easier to make that judgment from the "right" side of the tracks. It is well known that there's a market for kidnapped babies from impoverished countries for sale to wealthy US couples. Is that morally acceptable?

littlesaint, I agree with you but you also have to look at it from both sides and if you were faced with that decision I don't think it would be at all easy to say which way you'd go unless you were actually there.

On another note this movie was amazingly good.

definitely powerful stuff but you have to keep track of it as the story changes so many times and eveything is linked. If you miss the dialogues, you miss the plot.

IMO, all decision taken have to be taken with the associated conditions (isnt that we do too normally ??) and not only as Moral/ unmoral or a straight right or wrong.

Angelina, the beautiful Angelina, she sure made a tough decision to have a double Mastectomy. Of course, it was all over the news today, apparently though, it's been kept quite for a while, because she's already had reconstruction done. Hi All,

Once again, I return to the forum for guidance. I recently received a call from my local HT shop to notify me that Rotel is announcing a replacement for the RSP-1066 in January and that if I want to take advantage of the trade-up program, I should do so before the end of the year....
