This Foreign film (subtitled) gives a powerful, realistic and emotional look into the life of a young Columbian girl who is recruited into the drug cartel as mule (smuggler) to transport drugs into the States.
This plot resists delving into politics, economics and morality of the drug industry, and instead, deals solely with one young girl, and her struggle to find hope and opportunity for a future for herself and her unborn child.
The acting is superb, and the interactions between the main character and her best friend so believable, you can’t help but be totally drawn into their lives. The realism and accuracy portrayed by the direction and editing nearly make this seem like a documentary. In the end, my wife and I were enthralled and emotionally connected with this film.
Four and one half stars, on my personal scale.
