I'll probably rent it out of curiosity.

It seems like an over the top, almost spoof like movie from the reviews I've read. Clearly not for all tastes (as can be said of many Tarantino films, for example) but I still plan to check it out.

Yeah, makes me even more curious to go see it. I may pick it up as a previously viewed disc for $5 later on.

I saw it at the movies, and I wasn't impressed. Save your money for something else.

Edit: If you really want to see a excellent movie with action check out, No Country for Old Men, that my friends is worth the money.

                Peace and blessings,

I have to say I enjoyed it. I watched it tonight and had a good laugh. It's a video game in "live action" mode. The stunts and situations were so outrageous I could only laugh. As I suspected, Tarantino-like--not as good as his finer efforts but still entertaining. I'll likely pick it up at some point. Different strokes for different folks, as the saying goes.

I rented it on Bluray. Yeah, it's pretty over the top. Just don't take it seriously. I do wonder, though, what Clive Owen was thinking by getting involved with this. He is a very good actor who deserves better material. Hey, Clive, get a new agent.

I dunno. He was probably just in it for the fun of it. I read a review that described better than my video game analogy. The reviewer called it a Looney Toons live action cartoon in a Tarentino style. And Roger Ebert's review of it nicely sums it up too. At every moment, just about, the film just goes for a new level of outrageousness. That's its point.

Oh well, like similar films, it is either going to be liked quite a bit or viscerally hated. Check your brain at the door and enjoy the cartoon is how I see it.

Hmmm... more than likely for the money. But considering the action in Shoot 'Em Up and considering he was a potential candidate to play James Bond before they went with Craig, you can see how Clive would have made a pretty good one, even though I have really taken to Daniel Craig as a helluva Bond.

^^Owen would have been a great Bond as well. But Craig is quite good too.

^Different strokes for different folks. There are movies I've seen that I feel that way about as well. Blair Witch was one I saw at the cinema and I would have walked out about 10 mins. in as well except I was the ride home for four other people. I still want those 81 mins. of my life back.

Definitely a love/hate film, though. At DVD Talk, there are four reviews of the film. Two HATED it (no stars and a "Skip it" as a recommendation) and two LOVED it (four plus stars and "Highly recommended"). I think Ebert captures it best in his review (and he acknowledges that it is not to all tastes). Reservoir Dogs caused a similar reaction among my movie-loving friends back in the day--LOVED IT (as I did) or HATED IT (as many of my friends did). But hey, it would be boring if all movies were universally appealing. What would we have to debate over?
