    High Tension

So I was at a friends last night and we decided to pop a movie in. She had a few I havent seen, and she had this one called High Tension, neither of of knew anything about it, but it was suppose to be a horror movie.

Now I havent seen Saw, Hostel or anything of the sort, not really a horror movie type guy. Let me say, DAMN! This movie lived up to its name! High Tension from begining to end, and it seemed like it would have been crazy with a nice speaker setup. (she had a basic HTIB setup with no rears)

The premise without trying to ruin it.
A friend visits her friend and familys house. Well the first night shes there an un expected visitor shows up. And you pretty much know how horror movies go from there. Things happen, blood flies, people scream, etc etc.
Theres a nice little twist at the end too, (isn't there always?)
Id say, if your into these kinda movies, I would check it out. I believe its dubbed, but they did a great job, and in a dark room with a 5.1 setup it might get your heart rate going. My friend said Saw and Hostel was no where near as bad (in a good way) as this movie. Deffinatly a bloody, gruesome movie. Not one for the little kids of course, or even some adults.

So grab your big teddy bear, blanket and watch this movie. :T

I wasn't all that crazy about it. I felt there was some cheating in the screenplay. Hard to go into it without spoilers all over the place, so I'll just say I didn't buy the ending. Also, much too much gore for my taste. The best horror is what you don't see and only imagine. But I wouldn't say don't see it to anyone here. We all have different tastes, and some aren't as picky as I am about the writing end of things.

Ok George, scary stuff. My Wife is convinced us three share the exact same tastes in movies. It was great when I was using you to rent movies I really wanted to see (But George liked it.....), but now she's looking over my shoulder catching your reviews for movies I didn't want to see. So far I've enjoyed all the one's you've given your nod to.

She's always a horror fan so after RCD's review (and before yours) I went out and rented it. I should have waited for yours.

Your review is cryptic before you watch the movie, but now makes perfect sense. I agree 100%. Wife says 3/4 of the movie is a copy of Dean Koonts "Intensity". We believe it was 100% a copy and the studio wanted a twist after filming was done with no money for re-shoots..

While there is a movie version of Intensity, she was basing the opinion from the book. Not sure how well it matches.

Sound was real good actually. Being dubbed I was hoping it wouldn't be like Spanish dubbed English movies, a semi-stereo soundtrack with loud dialog.

So I was right, kind of.. From the IMDB:

**Don't highlight until after you've seen the movie**

According to the director, the screenplay version of the film had the entire movie from Marie's version of events. You didn't find out she was the killer until the end of the film after Marie defeats the killer and rescues Alex, when it would cut back to the Hospital Room and you see Marie in handcuffs. A police officer would roll in a TV and show Marie the video of her killing the gas station attendant and ask if she wanted to change her story. The real version of events was meant to be another movie entirely. However, when the writers presented the script to Luc Besson, he convinced them to change the ending to include the last reel of the film revealing Marie as the killer, instead of the last five minutes.

Yeah. Figures. Perfect way to ruin a screenplay.

The old-fashioned thriller/horror/mystery movie isn't quite dead yet. Below is a throwback to an earlier style of scary movie, one missing far too often in Hollywood these days. Now, I'm not going to reveal which of the above

While working on the computer yesterday, I had the TV on in the background and the show was on the all-time scariest movies.

So, I was thinking, I like to be frightened. But, what to get. Ah, the good folk at HTG might have some interesting ideas.

I don't know the name of this film right off. But let's start with the fact it is based on a true story.

So, spoiler alert if anybody wants to watch a movie like this, not knowing the name, it involved hiking, a young couple, and on/off course day and night time hiking and camping. Stop...
