    2 for the money

    Key players:

Renee Russo, Matthew McConagahey(sp), and Al Pacino.

Matthew plays a former college qb who hurt his leg and can't play in the pros let alone the arena league. He decides to start working a 900 line to pay the bills. After a lucky break, he starts picking pro football games and giving tips only to be noticed by Al Pacino who runs a sports betting advise group. He makes him change his identity and all of a sudden he's a superstar in the betting world.

About 1/2 way thru the movie starts it's downhill slide and finally bottoms out in a predicable ending.

Worth a rent and not much else.

    I give it a solid 2 out of 5.

You just saved me some money, Shane. I was thinking about buying this when it became a previously viewed disc at Blockbuster, but now I will just rent it instead.

What's wrong with those Hollywood scripters today ? They start out well in the first act and fall apart in the final.

...look at the wild, crazy, dangerous world of big time gambling. Now this is not a subject that interests me. The extent of my gambling is a 2 buck ride on a lottery ticket every Saturday. So even though this film starred an old favorite of mine, Al Pacino, I continually passed over it on the rental...

      ... for January.

First big interest for me is RIGHTEOUS KILL , starring Deniro and Pacino. I understand the script is just so-so, but we may never see these two great actors in another film together, so for me it is a must own.

Next up is BANKGOK DANGEROUS starring Nick...

      THE RECRUIT

Stars Al Pacino and Colin Farrell. Colin is a top MIT graduate and Pacino a recruiter for the CIA. The film deals with the training of a CIA agent but as things progress, and as Pacino often reminds us: " Nothing is what it seems." And because of all the verbal warnings,...

Is it real? Is it training? Is it a mind game? Is it something else? When you are a recruit at "The Farm" trying to become a field agent for the CIA, you never know.
