    The Cave had potential...

... to be a good horror flick, but sorry to say, it wasn't. It started off well. A team is exploring a huge cave and needs to call in a team of cave divers. So there are some early adventurous moments and later, even some scary moments. But in the end it all became just too silly. Still, I don't regret the time spent watching it because it wasn't a complete waste. And I tell you, this soundtrack is phenomonal with excellent use of the back channels. With various creaks and the sounds of dripping water, you really believe you are in a cave. The picture is a blacklevel torture test for your viewing source. My NEC HT1000 did a good job of bringing out the necessary shadow detail.

Although I don't highly recommend this film, I won't say don't rent. I will say, don't buy until you've had a chance to view it first. If nothing else this dvd will give your audio system a good workout and the picture will tell you whether or not your brightness is set properly.

I agree on the story George!
Started off good and then became silly.
    The ending was very poor.
    I hate when that happens.

I concur with you gentlemen, however storyline aside the SQ was topnotch. I enjoyed it more than the movie itself. If and when it goes on sell for $9.99 I'll certainly purchase it.

      Peace and blessings,

the movie was so predictable, we were laughing about it the whole way through, i had the ending picked out within mins of the first "encounter".

          Oh well.

How are sound engineers able to take different sounds (voices/instruments) coming from the L/R channels and place them in various spots across the soundstage? I guess this is called "imaging" but they might as well call it magic to me....
