Rented It.
This is definetly a Wes Anderson style film, so if you didn't like The Royal Tenenbaums, you will absolutely hate this one. Even though I loved The Royal Tenenbaums (It's in my favorite 50 or better), I wasn't too big on The Life Aquatic.
The cast, acting, soundtrack (which is in DTS) and signature Wes style were all fabulous. I felt that the story was less than spectacular though. For me it was like big lumps of caviar on a dirty trashcan lid. Great scenes with a poor disjointed flow (even for the surreal & eclectic styling of Anderson). I started to get bored with the "story". No matter how much I love Wes' view and the actors, I can't say that I plan on buying this. A good rent if you're into this type of film.
