The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou

    Rented It.

This is definetly a Wes Anderson style film, so if you didn't like The Royal Tenenbaums, you will absolutely hate this one. Even though I loved The Royal Tenenbaums (It's in my favorite 50 or better), I wasn't too big on The Life Aquatic.

The cast, acting, soundtrack (which is in DTS) and signature Wes style were all fabulous. I felt that the story was less than spectacular though. For me it was like big lumps of caviar on a dirty trashcan lid. Great scenes with a poor disjointed flow (even for the surreal & eclectic styling of Anderson). I started to get bored with the "story". No matter how much I love Wes' view and the actors, I can't say that I plan on buying this. A good rent if you're into this type of film.

Too late, Nick. I already bought it. I'll let everyone know what I think of it after I get a chance to view it.

"Quick-draw Bellefontaine" that may be, but he didn't get a shot off..."I'll let everyone know what I think of it after I get a chance to view it."

I picked it up today, hoping for a good showing.

For me it was like big lumps of caviar on a dirty trashcan lid.
Another classic from Nick....gotta start a thread just on analogies from Mr. Mosher!!

Okay I watched this last night. I loved it, the wife hated it. But she always did feel I had a weird sense of humor.

Nick is correct about the story being a little disjointed, but all in all I really enjoyed the show. This is the typical off the wall kind of humorous material that Bill Murray often associates himself with, and I do enjoy watching Murray do anything. One thing, though, if you have front projection and a big 8 foot or so widescreen, the picture on this disc will knock your socks off. The DTS soundtrack is nothing special, but there is nothing really special about the soundtrack anyway.

Not everyone will like this, that's for sure. As for me, I'll be playing this often.

I rented it and I hated it. But I didn't like the Royal Tenenbaums either.

I wouldn't recommend it for the most viewers.

Being I loved Royal Tennenbaums, I think I'll give this a purchase. I don't figure I can lose here.

just seen it and loved it very funny ? But it does play to my qwerky sense of humor. As for the disjointed story I think that is part of the Jauque Cousteau design of the film. I think it added to the movie.

Watched it lastnight and I too thought it was great :T Maybe not quite up at the same level as his previous films but I thought it was quite good overall. I also suspected the "flow" was purposely sort of stop and go.

PQ and SQ were good as well :T 4/5

I'm a big Bill Murray fan and also really enjoyed this movie. The fight scene between Murray and Owen Wilson was good. The highlight for me though was the scene where Murray announces to the room that he's "going on a 3 day drunk" and that anyone is welcome to join him. That's a classic line.

Willem Defoe's character also had me laughing.

Same here. You know, I don't recall ever seeing him do comedy before.
